Logan Babe Ruth teams enjoy success

Four Logansport Babe Ruth teams qualified for state tournament play this summer.

The Logan 13s won their district in Goodland and are playing in Crown Point for state. Brantlen Collins, Austin Harmon and Zach White were chosen for the North/South All Star team and will play July 27 in Crown Point.

In state competition, the Logansport 13s beat Highland 10-8 last Wednesday, beat South Bend Eastside 13-3 last Friday, beat Schererville 2-1 last Sunday and play Friday at 8 p.m. vs. Crown Point. (Schererville’s 13s won the 12-year-old state last year and didn’t lose a game in the district or state tournaments last year.)

The Logan 14s won their district in Rochester and are playing in LaPorte for state. Brayden Wilson and Zach Overway were chosen for the North/South All Star team and will play July 27 in Crown Point.

In LaPorte the Logansport 14s beat LaPorte 6-2 on Friday, beat South Bend Eastside 8-3 on Sunday and play Friday vs. Schererville.

The Logan 15s were runners up in the district in Logansport and are playing at Maconaquah for state. Chad Clifford and Austin Muller were chosen for the North/South All Star team and will play July 27th in Crown Point.

In Bunker Hill, the Logansport 15s lost to Kokomo 5-4 on Friday, beat Maconaquah 17-6 on Sunday and played Munster Wednesday.

Logan’s senior Babe Ruth team (16-18 year olds) won its district at Taylor and played in Crown Point for state.

Lewis Cass holding football camps

WALTON — The Lewis Cass Championship Football Camp will be held from Monday through Friday next week at the Lewis Cass practice fields.

Session I will run from 8-9:30 each morning for boys entering grades 3-6. Non-contact instruction in skills fundamental to the game of football will be the emphasis of the week.
