Sports briefs for Wednesday, June 25

Winamac anglers place 4th at state

MONTICELLO — Winamac’s team of Greg Zellers and Blake Albertson finished in fourth place in the Indiana State High School Fishing Championship here at Lake Shafer Sunday.

Zellers and Albertson caught five bass that weighed eight pounds, four ounces. Wabash Valley’s Eijah Hamrick and Griffin Fernandes won with five bass (10 pounds, four ounces).

Register for Pioneer golf scramble

ROYAL CENTER — The Pioneer Athletic Department will be having its second-annual golf scramble at Pondview Golf Course at 9 am. July 26th. Registration is at 8 a.m.

The cost to participate is $180 per team ($45 per person), or $150 to sponsor a hole. Hole sponsors will have a sign with its name displayed at the hole, on a banner in the football stadium, or in the main gym during football and basketball season.

There will be prizes awarded to the top two teams, random drawings and a free lunch to participants.

Proceeds will go to the John Pokorney Athletic Scholarship fund, and the Pioneer Athletic Department.

Logan soccer looking for players

The Logansport Youth Soccer League will be having its annual fall league registration on July 12th (10 a.m.-1 p.m.), July 16th (6-8 p.m.) and July 20th (1-4 p.m.) at the Logansport Library.

Registration forms will be available at Logansport Library, Midwest Eye Consultants and Dunhams.

The league is open to boys and girls in Cass County in grades kindergarten to eighth grade.
