Logan sweeps Winamac in volleyball

No. 7 Pioneer rolls to win against Twin Lakes; Carroll drops match to Frontier.

---- — Logansport easily defeated Winamac 25-12, 25-13, 25-11 in volleyball action at Winamac Thursday.

Syd Bullard led Logansport (15-10) with 13 digs, 12 service points, 11 kills and two aces. Katie Easter added 15 assists and two aces.

Paulie Frye added three blocks and two aces. Hannah Jones had 16 assists. Monika Ness came up with six kills. Lindsey Cheney contributed with five digs, and Karlee Vernon had two aces.

“I thought the kids played very well against Winamac,” Logansport coach Jon Vernon said. “Maybe one of our best outings of the season. They did a lot of positive things out on the court. Ball movement was very good. Their effort was outstanding.”

Taylor Jones led Winamac with five assists and three blocks. Bethany Brogdon added nine digs. Savanna Button came up with seven digs. Ashley Eichelberger had seven kills. Dakota Heims contributed with four blocks, and Raychel Davis three blocks.

Pioneer 3, Twin Lakes 0

Class A, No. 7-ranked Pioneer came out strong against Twin Lakes winning 25-13, 25-21, 25-11.

“We lost focus in the second set,” Pioneer coach Rod Nies said. “We were down big, and we came back to win. Twin Lakes couldn’t get it going again. [The girls] have been a little bit more focus then last week. We had homecoming, and we weren’t focused. This week the intensity level is up. It is really a good time of the year to hone in that and get ready for the tournament. We have a lot of potential, and the last couple of practices we have been very inspirational to me.”

Riley Morris led Pioneer with 15 assists, 12 service points, 10 digs and three aces. Shelby Roller added 13 assists, 11 service points and eight digs. Sarah Dorris came up with 13 kills, eight digs and two service points. Megan Smith contributed with 20 service points and nine digs. Kayte Miller had seven digs and five service points, and Hannah Tevis had eight kills.

Frontier 3, Carroll 0

Carroll (11-11) came up short against Frontier as the Falcons won in three 25-14, 25-10, 25-15.

The Cougars were led by Bailey Worl with seven service points, six kills and six digs, Madison Miller added nine assists and five digs. Lauren Worl came up with four kills and three digs. Libby Eller had 11 digs. Macy Willoughby contributed with five digs, and Meghan Miller had four kills.
