Winamac wins MWC opener at West Central

FRANCESVILLE — Winamac’s boys basketball team won its Midwest Conference opener at rival West Central Friday night, 62-54.

Winamac (4-5, 1-0 MWC) led 31-25 at the half and outscored West Central 17-6 in the pivotal third quarter to lead 48-31 entering the fourth.

Derek Dotlich led a balanced Warriors attack with 14 points and eight rebounds. Parker Fox had 13 points and Adam Gruenig scored 11 on three 3-pointers. Jeremy Bentle and Kevin Gregor added seven points apiece. Levi Schultz had eight rebounds to go with three points.

Drew McKay and Brandon Brickley scored 17 points apiece to lead the Trojans (4-8, 2-2). Keegan Dillman had eight points, and Kamrein Street added five points and eight boards.

Winamac travels to LaVille on Tuesday.
