Berries record low round of season in sectional tune-up

Logan boys tennis tops McCutcheon; Cass beats NW.

Logansport’s girls golf team shot its low round of the season on senior night Wednesday at Dykeman Park Golf Course.

The Berries were edged by a Rochester squad that’s been ranked in the Top 20 for most of the season, 178-181.

“What a way to finish the regular season on senior night with our low nine-hole score,” LHS coach Bob Bannon said. “It gives us some added confidence entering sectional play on Friday. The top three were consistent and good tonight, but we need added help from others.”

The Berries’ lone senior in the varsity lineup, Alli Biggs, shot a 43 to lead the team on Wednesday. Freshman Tina Kniesly also shot 43.

Haley Lopez was right behind them with a 44. Megan Farris had the fourth score with a 51. Bree Bair (53), Grace Boyd (53) and Chelsae Henn (61) rounded out the seven-member varsity team on the night.

Karsten Lingenfelter shot a 38 to earn medalist honors for the Zebras. She was followed by Kovenant Lingenfelter (42), Kinley Lingenfelter (47), Lindsay Mitchell (51) and Vanessa Henning (53).

The Berries (8-5) compete at the Western Sectional at Chippendale Golf Course on Friday. They tee off at 12:40 p.m.

Mati DeWitt shot a 46 to lead the Panthers to the win on senior night at Pond View.

She was followed by April Wheeldon (49), Emily Powell (50), Nicole Schroder (53) and Mikayla Greiner (55).

Brandi Jones led the Braves with a 48.

The Panthers (7-5) will play against Cass today at the Logansport Golf Club. They will then compete at the Twin Lakes Sectional at Tippecanoe Country Club on Friday.
