Logansport tennis rolls into semifinal

Logansport’s boys tennis team dropped just three games total in a 5-0 win over Carroll on Wednesday to open play at the Logansport Sectional.

The seven-time defending champion Berries will take a 15-3 record into tonight’s semifinal match against Twin Lakes. The other semifinal pits Lewis Cass vs. Delphi. The final is set for Friday. All matches begin at 4:45 p.m.

On Wednesday, Bryan Zehner defeated Brett Miller 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Nathaniel King defeated Ty Gray 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Lucas Eastburn defeated Collin Burge 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.

Dustin Clements and Kaleb Overway defeated Brandon McCarty and Adam Beaver 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles, and Matt Jennings and Jared Cole defeated Logan Jackson and Nigel Thieke 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

LHS boys basketball team adds contest

Logansport’s boys basketball team will have a home game against South Bend Career Academy on Jan. 31 with a 6:30 p.m. start to replace the New Castle game.

The academy is a charter school in its first year of varsity basketball competition.

Also, the Berries’ scrimmage on Nov. 23 at 9 a.m. has been moved to West Lafayette.

Winamac honoring 1983 football team

WINAMAC — The 1983 Winamac football team will be honored during a special halftime celebration during the home game on Oct. 11 against Caston.

The 1983 season was one to remember: an undefeated regular season, Midwest Conference championship and playoff run. It was a special team that inspired many.

Please notify Bill Ball, athletic director, if you will be at the celebration. Names will be left at the gates for free admission. Ball can be reached at ballb@epulaski.k12.in.us.

Club volleyball team holding signups

Logansport Volleyball Club will be having its 2014 signups this Saturday from 9 a.m.-noon at the Berry Bowl.

Players and parents that are interested must come to the signup. Players will need to bring $30 for AAU membership and there will be Yankee Candle Fundraising information.
