Logansport’s Whitney Jennings is on the list of the Top 60 senior girls basketball player as compiled by Garry H. Donna, publisher of Hoosier Basketball Magazine. These girls were selected from approximately 1,600 senior players statewide.

Two sessions of the 33rd annual Top 60 Senior Girls’ Workout will be hosted by Hoosier Basketball Magazine in conjunction with the IHSAA and the IBCA on March 16 on the campus of Marian University in Indianapolis.

The Top 60 Senior Girls’ Workout includes six of the state’s top scorers — Jennings (32 ppg); Kindall Fincher, Fort Wayne Canterbury (25.8); Allison Nash, Speedway (24.9); Haley Cook, Hamilton Heights (23.3); Alicia Wilson, Owen Valley (22.9); and Maura Muensterman, Evansville Mater Dei (22.7).

Other notable selections include Chelsea Bentley, Anderson; Caroline Buhr, Penn; Emily Harrison, Western Boone; Jaclyn Heath, LaPorte; Alex Hochstedler, Fishers; Kacie Juday, Tipton; Jasmine Love, Kokomo; and Carley O’Neal, Western.

Le Moyne falls in NE-10 semis

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Year Michael Mallory scored 15 second-half points as top-seeded Southern Connecticut State University held on for a 62-55 victory over Le Moyne College on Wednesday night in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship semifinals at Moore Field House in an NCAA Division II men’s basketball game.

Le Moyne got to within two points late when Mallory answered with a conventional three-point play to push the Southern Connecticut lead back to five with 16 seconds left.

The Dolphins, ranked seventh in this week’s NCAA East Region rankings, drop to 17-11 on the season and now await word on a possible bid to the NCAA Championships. The eight-team East Regional field will be announced on NCAA.com on Sunday at 10:30 p.m. along with the other seven regions.

Nate Champion had four assists and six rebounds to go with two points, a steal and a block in playing all 40 minutes for the Dolphins.

Logansport youth soccer registering

Logansport Youth Soccer is registering at the Logansport Public Library. Dates and times are as follows: Today from 6-8 p.m.; Saturday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.; March 15 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.; and March 16 from 2-4 p.m.

Children pre-kindergarten thru eighth grade are welcome, as 3-4 year olds are allowed to play but parents much coach their team if that young.

Registration fees are $40 per player. Registration forms can also be picked up at Midwest Eye Consultants and the Logansport Library.

Deadline for all registrations and fees to be turned in and paid will be at 4 p.m. March 16 to guarantee a place on a team.

Volunteers are also needed for the league.

Butler routs DePaul, ends 7-game skid

ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) — Alex Barlow scored a career-high 19 points to lead Butler to a 79-46 victory over DePaul on Thursday night.

Khyle Marshall added 18 points for Butler (13-16, 3-14 Big East) as the Bulldogs put an end to a season-high seven-game losing streak.
