Sports briefs for Sunday, Feb. 9

Sectional tickets on sale at LHS

Tickets for the Class 4A Logansport girls basketball sectional are now on sale at LHS.

Full session tickets are $10 and will be sold at the athletic department from 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday. Single session tickets are $6 per session and will be available only at the door.

On Tuesday, Lafayette Jeff plays Marion at 6 p.m., followed by Logansport vs. McCutcheon.

On Friday, Kokomo faces the winner of Game 1 at 6 p.m., followed by Harrison vs. the winner of Game 2.

The championship game is set for 7:30 p.m. next Saturday.

Penny has double-double at Xavier

CINCINNATI – DePaul senior Jasmine Penny had her third career double-double in a 78-49 win at Xavier Wednesday.

The Lady Blue Demons improved to 18-5 and are 9-2 in Big East play. Xavier has dropped its last five games and fell to 8-15 and is 3-8 league action.

Brittany Hrynko led four DePaul players in double-figures with 18 points while 10 different players scored in the win. Penny finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Chanise Jenkins and Megan Rogowski each finished with 11 points.

DePaul hosts Creighton at 1 p.m. EST today. The game will be televised on Fox Sports 1.

No. 16 SCSU drops Le Moyne in NE-10 play

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Michael Mallory scored 27 points to lead Division II No. 16 Southern Connecticut State University to a 97-75 win over the Le Moyne College men’s basketball team on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at the Moore Field House.

Nate Champion had 12 points and five assists for the Dolphins (13-9, 10-6 NE-10).

Champion had 13 points and three assists in the Dophins’ 69-56 win over Adelphi on Wednesday.

Logan youth softball league registering

Logansport Girls Softball will be holding registration for Pixie League (ages 9-12) and Junior Miss League (ages 13 and up) players at the Logansport Church of the Brethren during the following dates/times: today from 2-4 p.m.; Feb. 22 from 1-3 p.m.; and Feb. 23 from 2-4 p.m.
