Logan golfers shoot low round in win

Logansport’s girls golf team had its best nine-hole round in years in a win at Lewis Cass Wednesday at the Logansport Golf Club.

The Berries defeated the Kings 174-258 in their first dual meet of the season.

“This is the lowest nine-hole score for my girls in my four years as their coach,” Logan coach Bob Bannon said. “Avoid triples and above and one can have a competitive, decent round.”

Logan’s Alli Biggs was the medalist with a 5-over 41. Kristina Kniesly and Haley Lopez were right behind with 42s. Megan Farris had a 49 and Grace Boyd added a 57.

“Our 1, 2 and 3 had all 3s, 4s and 5s on their cards except for one six each,” Bannon said. “Outstanding.”

Megan Mannering led the Kings with a 63, followed by Kassi Hardy (64), Maddie Karmel (65) and Jael Forker (66).

  • NEWCOM: State parks offer fun times at reasonable prices Summer is in full swing and many people are taking trips as part of their summer vacations. You can venture near to home or far away, but the trip is only as good as you and your family make it. The amusement parks and beaches in Florida are nice, but many of us cannot swing those trips these days. The good news is that there are many good state parks in Indiana to enjoy and they are affordable.
