BUNKER HILL —
Caston’s girls bsaketball team defeated Maconaquah 45-22 on Friday night.
After suffering its first loss of the season on Tuesday, Caston (3-1) bounced back with a 23-point victory.
The Comets came out with an 11-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. Caston then went on a 13-0 run in the second for a 24-4 lead at halftime. The Comets led 37-8 at the end of three with the final being 45-22.
“Our defense really set the tone,” Caston coach Carl Davis said. “We did an excellent job of boxing out, limiting second chance points by Maconaquah. Our offense was slow in the beginning, but picked up. Our guards did a good job of getting the ball in the post to Mickayla Rans and Anna Brown.”
Rans nearly outscored Maconaquah (0-3) with a game-high 21 points and seven rebounds. Brown and Jaycee Denton each had six points, and Marli Leazenby contributed with five points.
Caston next faces Pioneer on Dec. 4 at the Cass County Tourney in Logansport.
