Conference football action gets in full swing
Pioneer jumped out early, opening its Midwest Conference football slate with a 31-7 win over Winamac last Friday.
Every Loganland team will engage in a conference battle this Friday, headed up by Logansport hosting Richmond in North Central Conference play.
In Midwest Conference play, the Panthers, who are receiving votes in the Class A poll, travel to South Newton, the Warriors travel to North White and Caston visits Frontier.
In the Mid-Indiana Conference, Lewis Cass travels to Northwestern. In the Hoosier Heartland Conference, Carroll hosts Tri-Central. And in Hoosier Conference play, Delphi hosts Class 3A No. 4 ranked West Lafayette.

Babe Ruth holding fall baseball league
Logansport Babe Ruth will once again hold Fall Ball.
This year’s Fall Ball will start this Sunday and will run every Sunday until Oct. 10.
There will be two age divisions. The first will be for any youth who played this past season as a 12-, 13- or 14-year-old. This group will play on Sundays at 1 p.m. The second group will be for those who played this year as a 15-, 16-, 17- or 18-year-old. They will play their games Sundays at 3:30 p.m.
The cost to play is $30 with breaks for more than one child in the same family. Logansport Babe Ruth Fall Ball is open to all who wish to participate. This includes players who may not be from Logansport or do not play Babe Ruth in Logansport.

Dennis Long Memorial Batting Clinic scheduled
The Dennis Long Memorial Batting Clinic will be held on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at Fincher Field.
The event, sponsored by Logansport Girl’s Softball, will feature Kim Clay, whose daughter Alexia was the top home run hitter in the state in 2004-2005.
Any Logansport or Cass County girl who played Pixie or Jr. Miss Softball during the 2008 season and is 9-15 years old is eligible to participate. Proceeds will go to Clay and to the Dennis Long Memorial Fund Scholarships.
Ladies should wear tennis shoes, bring a helmet, glove and a bat. Cost is $20 and checks should be made payable to Logansport Girl’s Softball. Parents are also invited to observe.

Logan Girls Softball to hold fall league
Logansport Girls Softball will having a fall league starting in September.
Games will be held every Sunday starting Sept. 14 and ending Oct. 5. Any girls who played Cherub, Pixie or Jr. Miss are eligible to play.
Girls ages 8, 9 and 10 will play from 1-2:30 p.m. at Fincher Field. Girls ages 11, 12 and 13 will play from 2:30-4 p.m. at Fincher Field.
