Adaway advances to track nationals
The Logansport Parks & Recreation Department is proud to announce that 10-year-old Jalen Adaway, a fourth grader at Landis Elementary, has advanced to the Hershey Track & Field National Championship games in Hershey, Penn.
He will be participating in the standing long jump event. He advanced to nationals with his performance in Local and State Hershey Track & Field competitions.  
The National Championships will take place from July 31 to Aug. 3.
Rich, Fox start for Top Recruit
Lindsay Rich of Logansport and Katy Fox of Pioneer are starting for Top Recruit this summer.
Top Recruit is an AAU girls basketball team based in South Bend.
Top Recruit recently competed in the AAU Summer Slam Event in Cincinnati and the Nike Summer Showcase in Chicago. The team placed in the top third of both tournaments, competing against teams from Washington, New York, Kansas, Missouri, Ohio and Illinois.
The tournaments are national exposure showcase tournaments for prospective college players to perform in front of college basketball scouts from all over the nation.
Clem to play in USSSA World Series
A Walton resident, Austin Clem, will be going to the World Series. The USSSA World Series that is.
The Indiana Phenoms, a 13U travel baseball team from Central Indiana, earned a berth to the USSSA World Series. The Phenoms earned their spot by finishing in first place in the North Division of the Indiana Select League.
The Phenoms are one of six teams from Indiana competing.
Softball pitching clinic scheduled
Gary Hoffman will be conducting his 20th annual softball pitching clinic for beginning pitchers starting on Sept. 7.
Classes will be held in Logansport at Franklin Elementary School on Sundays.

Football registration deadline is Sunday
All Logansport boys entering grades 3-6 are eligible for Cass County Youth Football.
The minimum age for participation is 8 years old by May 31, 2008 and no older than 12 as of Sept. 30, 2008.
The league is a tackle football league that teaches the fundamentals of football. The registration deadline is this Sunday. All new and returning players must register.

Lewis Cass hosting volleyball clinic
The Lewis Cass Volleyball Junior High and Elementary Clinic will be held from Tuesday to Thursday next week at the Lewis Cass High School Gym.
The elementary session will be held from 8-9:30 a.m. and the junior high session will be held from 9:30-10 a.m.
Cost is $15. A parent or guardian must accompany the player on the first day.
