Turner’s single lifts Annex to Babe Ruth title

Matt Turner hit a game-winning two-run single in the top of the seventh inning to lift Annex past Security 5-4 Wednesday in the Logansport Babe Ruth League championship game.

Adam Cotner allowed just two hits in a complete-game effort to earn the win on the mound. Austin Hildebrand had two hits, including a double, for Annex. Brad Weinstein added a pair of base hits.

Kody McDonald had both of Security Federal’s hits. Kyle Overway started the game for Security Federal and Drew Daugherty pitched two innings of relief. The duo allowed five hits in the contest.

Lease, Riley hit aces at Logan’s Run

A couple of golfers recorded hole-in-ones at Logan’s Run Family Golf Center recently.

Bud Lease, 80, Lucerne, made an ace on the 10th hole on June 24 using a 6-iron. It was witnessed by Joe Troyer.

Five days later Coy Riley recorded a hole-in-one on the same 10th hole using a 9-iron. His shot was witnessed by Milo Sutton.

Logan Pride Football Camp set

The Logansport High School football staff will be hosting the annual Logan Pride Football Camp at Logansport Stadium from July 7-11.

Campers entering grades 3-6 will attend session I from 9-11 a.m. and campers entering grades 7-8 will attend session II from 1-3 p.m.

Camp will also include the Logansport Parks Department’s Punt, Pass & Kick Competition on Friday, July 11.

Cost is $25 per camper and registration can be completed the first morning of camp.

Lewis Cass Football Camp set

The Lewis Cass Championship Football Camp will be held July 21-25 at the Lewis Cass football facility.

Session I will be 8-9:30 a.m. for boys entering grades 3-6. Non-contact instruction in skills fundamental to the game of football will be the emphasis of the week.

Session II will run from 10 a.m.-noon each day for boys entering grades 7 & 8. Helmets and shoulder pads will be issued for semi-live contact drill work.

Cost of the camp is $30 for each boy. Brothers who attend can take a $5 discount each.

Championship instruction, Punt, Pass, and Kick competition, guest speakers, official Kings T-shirt, and special awards for outstanding attitude and hustle are part of the entry fee. Registration may be done the first day of camp.

Technique camp for high school boys grades 9-12 will run 6-8 p.m. the same week. High School boys planning on playing football this fall should attend. There is no charge for the high school camp.

Caston youth football team taking registrations

The Caston Chargers youth football team is currently taking registrations for the 2008 season.  

Students that turn 8 before May 31, 2008 through any students that turn 13 after Sept. 30, 2008 are eligible to play. The registration fee is $30 per player, which includes all equipment and uniforms. Checks should be payable to Cass County Youth Football. 

Players must have a completed physical form before participation. The first practice will be on Aug. 2 from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Caston practice field.
