Riley Eller shut down Tri-County’s offense as the Carroll baseball team won 12-2 in six innings Friday.
The junior held the Cavaliers to two runs on four hits and two walks, striking out seven.
At the plate for the Cougars (9-9) who banged out 13 hits on the night, Thomas Gillam had a double and a triple and finished with three RBIs and Greg Manning had a double.
Carroll travels to Benton Central on Monday.
Logansport 9, Pioneer 5 (JV)
Kyle Ayers earned the win while Matt Metz got the save Friday night against the Panthers.
The duo gave up a combined five runs on seven hits in seven innings.
Adam Cotner paced the Berries (14-4) at the plate, earning two hits, scoring twice and driving in two runs. James Knapp and Metz picked up two hits each, and Matthew Kistler drove in two runs.
Girls tennis
Cass 4, Maconaquah 0
The Lady Kings earned their fifth Mid-Indiana Conference with of the season Friday night against the Lady Braves.
The No. 2 singles match between Cass’ Emily Gray and Maggie Caldwell will be concluded on Saturday to complete the match. They will resume play in the third set with Caldwell holding a 2-1 lead.
Gray took the first set by a score of 6-2, then Caldwell followed with a 6-2 win of her own in the second set.
Caldwell has only lost one match this season.
The Kings already have the team match wrapped up thanks to wins at the other two singles, and the doubles matches.
Tiffany Skarda won in straight-sets at No. 1 singles 6-4, 6-2. Cass’ No. 3 player, Alysa Luching also swept her match by set scores of 6-1, 6-1.
In doubles competition, the No. 1 team of Kirsten Sailors and Alisha Allison earned a 6-4, 6-4 victory, while Shaela Taylor and Molly Winters won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
Cass (8-3, 5-1 in MIC) will finish out its regular season schedule at Hamilton Heights on Tuesday.
Cass 3, Maconaquah 0 (JV)
The JV ladies only dropped four total games in their win over the Lady Braves.
Jillian Bower won her eight-game pro-set match by a score of 8-1, while Abby Ropes earned a shutout victory with an 8-0 win. Katy Bowser also picked up a win by a score of 8-3.
The JV Kings are now 12-1 on the season.
Twin Lakes 5, Delphi 0
The Lady Oracles struggled Friday night in their match with the Lady Indians.
Twin Lakes’ No. 1 player Kylie Windler defeated Haley Richardson 6-2, 6-4, while Betsy Adams topped Nicole Springer 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.
Delphi’s Irina Hariri fell to Jessica Collins 6-1, 6-2.
Twin Lakes took both doubles matches as well.
Janelle Hicks and Brianna Roach knocked off Katie Mullin and Ali Canen 7-5. 6-1, and the No. 2 team of Amber Caputo and Grace Mears fell to Megan Leverenz and Lauren Crabb.
Twin Lakes 4, Delphi 1 (JV)
Kelsie Blickenstaff earned the Lady Oracles only win against the Lady Indians in JV action.
Blickenstaff topped Shelby Horn 8-6 to earn the victory.
Chelsea Cardwell defeated Morgan McCauslin 8-3, while Maddie Guy defeated Samantha Mayhew 8-3.
Brooke Kutler and Lauren Gephart earned an 8-7 (4) victory over Miriam Castillo and Vaniessa Rohrman. Sierra Wilson and Ariana Bentley won over Bridget Floyd and Emily Murphy 8-4.
Boys Track
Winamac 105, West Central 50, Oregon-Davis 11
The Warriors cruised to the triangular meet win at Oregon-Davis.
Rory Maxwell won the 110 hurdles in 15.9 and the 300 hurdles in 43.7. Cory Hurd won the 100 in 11.24 and the 200 in 23.8.
Ron Thomas won the 1600 in 5:18 and the 3200 in 11:28. T.J. Redlin won the 400 in 56.2 and Anthony Chapman took the 800 in 2:08.
David Schambers won the pole vault at 13’. The Warriors swept the throwing events as Justin Schramm won the discus at 123’ and Andy Stepp won the shot put at 44’2”.
Winamac’s 400 relay team of Hurd, Zac Dix, Chance Blankenship and Qort Schmicker won in 46.7. The 1600 relay team of Redlin, Joey Tetzloff, Maxwell and Blankenship won in 3:46.
Winamac (11-2) competes at the Rensselaer Sectional on Thursday.
