Panthers close MWC slate with win

— Nikita Greiner pitched a two-hitter in the Pioneer softball team’s 7-0 win at West Central Thursday.
Greiner (5-11) fanned 11 and walked five in the shutout.
At the plate for the Lady Panthers (7-13, 3-4 in Midwest Conference), Hannah Kraay had three base hits, two RBIs and a run scored. Kelsey Lesher had a two-run triple. Amanda Johnson added a pair of singles.
Pioneer next hosts Class 2A No. 2 Eastern on Wednesday.
Logansport 13, Huntington North 0 (5 inn.) (JV) (Tuesday)
Sarah Lowry pitched a one-hitter, striking out five, as the JV Lady Berries improved to 12-2.
Lowry had three hits and two RBIs at the plate. Taylor Waychunas doubled and had an RBI.
Boys Golf
Peru 159, Logansport 177
The 19th-ranked Tigers (8-1) won a dual meet in cold, wet and windy conditions at Dykeman Park Golf Course.
Peru’s Derek Mullikin was the medalist with a 4-over 38. John McMillen shot a 39, Ethan Eckelbarger had a 40, Terry Smith shot a 42 and Taylor Smith came in with a 43.
Brenton Chetnik led the Berries (1-8) with a 42. Drake Morris shot a 44, Caleb Roller had a 45, Even Kirkendall carded a 46 and Al Clem shot a 48.
Logan competes in the Culver Invitational on Saturday.
Peru 175, Logansport 178 (JV)
Peru’s Brandon Oberkrom was the medalist with a 40 at Dykeman Park.
For Logansport (3-3), Braxton Shidler and Jacob Yeoman both carded 41s. Chad Roahrig shot a 46, Will Tichenor had a 50, Caleb Coplen came in with a 51 and Ty Albright shot a 60.
Western 195, Peru 214, Cass 234 (Jr. High) (Tuesday)
David Waterson led the Kings with a 46 at Rock Hollow Golf Course.
Kalen Linback shot a 50 and Ryan Aldridge and Riley Johnson both shot a 69.
Boys Track
Delphi 71, Benton Central 61 (Tuesday)
The Oracles won a dual meet against the Bison.
For Delphi, A.J. Erskin won the 110 hurdles in 16.88 and the 300 hurdles in 45.26. Matt Wilcox won the long jump at 18’7” and the 400 in 52.8.
J.D. Huffer won the 800 in 2:10.5 and the 200 in 23.29. Jonathon Hufford placed first in the 100 in 11.35.
Roy Anderson took the discus with a throw of 104’7”. Kris Bender won the 3200 in 10:42.8.
Delphi’s 1600 relay team of Erskin, Wilcox, Huffer and Hufford won in 3:41.
Girls Track
Benton Central 86, Delphi 46 (Tuesday)
The Lady Bison topped the Lady Oracles in a dual meet at Delphi.
For the Oracles, Kari Lake won the 400 with a time of 1:06.9.
Delphi’s 400 relay team of Olivia George, Mara Burton, Alisha Myers and Chelsey Marcotte won in 55.69 and the 1600 relay team of Lake, George, Denise Kendall and Marcotte won in 4:35.3.

Logansport 4, Huntington North 0 (JV) (Tuesday)
Zach Bennett pitched a two-hit shutout, striking out nine.
Chris Titus went 2-for-2 with an RBI double. Jake McCord had an RBI double and two runs scored. Cam Samuels added an RBI single.
Logansport 17, Richmond 4 (JV) (Saturday)
Jared Jennings fanned nine in five innings of work for the win on the mound.
Jake McCord went 4-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Brandon Bixler went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Adam Cotner went 1-for-2 with three runs scored.
