---- — Two thousand years of biblical fashion will be on display at The Salvation Army next weekend.

Twenty-seven women will portray biblical characters, wearing colorful and historical garb with accessories and shoes. As each woman is modeling, a narrative story, including a brief story of the biblical character's life, will be read.

Although this isn't Major Rose Eagle's first time helping with a biblical style show, it is her first time putting on this style show in Cass County.

Eagle and a core group of people have been planning the event since April. The costumes to be seen in the show were rented from a Salvation Army in Chicago.

"I am very excited. I'm nervous, but excited," Eagle said. "To see 2000 years of biblical history and 27 costumes is going to be great."

Some of the women included are Naomi and Ruth, Miriam, Deborah and Esther.

"I'm most excited to see the history about who the women were," Eagle said. "The strength they had through the difficult times they endured is incredible."

Those interested in attending should call 574-722-1979 by Monday. Although the tickets don't need to be purchased ahead of time, calling to reserve a seat will help give the organizers a head count for the amount of food that will be needed.

Kathy Helvie, Lake Cicott, will be Naomi during the style show. Helvie, a member of Lake Cicott United Methodist Church, describes herself as reserved, but said since becoming a breast cancer survivor she is trying to be more involved.

Linda Whiteman, part of the core group of woman planning the style show, said most women she asked were excited and elated to be able to help out.

"I'm looking forward to seeing the costumes in full," Whiteman said. "I didn't know what to expect before the costumes got here but when I saw the jewelry and accessories, I got excited. I'm now anxious to be a model."

Whiteman said she has already tried on three or four outfits.

Rose said she believes those who attend will be pleasantly surprised. She also noted that money raised will be used locally. The show, which is open to the public, will be at noon Oct. 12 at The Salvation Army in Logansport. Cost to attend is $12 and includes lunch.

There will also be a show Friday for the Area 11 annual Church Women United meeting. Registration and refreshments for the group will be 9 a.m., worship meeting will be at 10 a.m., business meeting will be at 11 a.m. and lunch and the style show will be at noon.

Those interested in reserving a seat should call 574-722-1979. The organizers are also looking for additional models. Anyone interested in volunteering or modeling should call Whiteman at 574-992-8420.
