The successful program had 774 participants in 2012, up from 702 participants in 2011.
A majority of the participants surveyed by DNR said the program is easy to use, private and secure, and that it fosters community goodwill. More than 90 percent said they would sign up again.
Both hunters and recipients have an option of donating or requesting any amount of venison in all conditions, from field-dressed animals to packaged venison.
Previous participants must re-register if they want to continue participating.
Freedom Hunt planned for Sept. 27 to 29

Chicken bash to benefit WRE
This year’s Weekly Religious Education chicken bash will be at McHale Complex and Carousel. As in the past, there will be free Carousel rides and limited tickets at the door, so make sure you purchase them in advance to ensure you will be able to attend.
It will be 4:30 to 7 p.m. Sept. 25. Carousel rides will be from 5 to 6:45 p.m. Tickets are $8.50 for adults and $4 for children 8 years old and younger. Dine in or carry-out available. For tickets, call Steve Farrer at 574-643-2476 or 765-434-7005.
Toastmaster wis contest with humor
Tim Templin, mental health counselor at Logansport State Hospital, told a funny story that earned him a trophy and advancedment in competition. The Logansport man will compete against seven other Toastmasters from north central Indiana 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Anderson Public Library, E 12th St., Anderson.
Templin is a member of Toastmasters Club in Logansport and Kokomo. He will represent the Kokomo Club in the Area 73 Contest. Toastmasters Club offer contest participation to members as an important part of the Toastmasters International educational program. Contests provide an opportunity for other Toastmasters to learn by observing proficient speakers.
