---- — A driver who fell asleep at the wheel is being blamed for a car crash around 11:10 a.m. today.

Linda Hostetler, 50, Lafayette, was driving on Ind. 25 near 650 North when she fell asleep at the wheel. The vehicle she was driving traveled left of center and hit a semi.

The 2013 Chevy Equinox driven by Hostetler ran into the side of the semi tractor driven by Thomas Ford, 60, Zanesville, Ohio, and almost went under the trailer, Cass County Sheriff's Deputy Kevin Pruiett said.

Hostetler reported neck and lower back pain and was transported to the hospital. The semi driver did not report any injuries.

The left side of the Equinox was smashed and the two back tires of the Pohl Transportation semi trailer were ripped off as a result of the collision.
