---- — Cass County tax sale set for today

The Cass County Auditor’s Office will hold a tax sale for delinquent properties at 10 a.m. today at the Cass County Government Building in the Commissioner Hearing Room, Room 203.

Bidders are urged to pre-register online at If unable to pre-register, it is advised bidders arrive one hour prior to the sale. Many questions can be answered prior to the sale and additional information is available on the website.

Street closed today for finishing

Today, Central Paving will be finishing Pollard Street, Murphy Street, Maplewood Drive and Park Avenue. Weather permitting this should be a one-day project.

Each street will be closed for a short time for paving. No parking signs will be put out the night before where needed. Residents are ask to find alternative parking for that day.

Pheasant hunt reminder

Hunters can begin registering for put-and-take hunting for ring-necked pheasants at DNR fish and wildlife areas this fall.

Put-and-take hunting for ring-necked pheasants will be offered Nov. 23 through Dec. 1 at Atterbury, Glendale, J. E. Roush Lake, Pigeon River (west of Ind. 3), Tri-County, Willow Slough and Winamac fish and wildlife areas.

The hunts are $25 per person. The bag limit is two birds of either sex.

Hunters can select the date, property and location within the property for their hunt.

Standard pheasant hunting will be extended at Atterbury and Glendale fish and wildlife areas until Jan. 15, offering hunters additional time to hunt birds that were not harvested during the put-and-take hunts. The bag limit is also two birds of either sex.

Ambassadors tour coming

Monticello - The Greater Monticello Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau will host the Harlem Ambassadors on Oct. 10 at Roosevelt Middle School’s Staggs Gymnasium beginning at 7 p.m. The Chamber will also be hosting a pork burger dinner prior to the event.

Tickets are now on sale at the Greater Monticello Chamber of Commerce, the Herald Journal, WMRS Sunny 107.7 Radio, Best Western Plus Brandywine Inn & Suites, Bank of Burnettsville and Alex’s Apparel. Advance Tickets are $7 for students, $9 for adults and $7 for seniors. At the door tickets will be $9 for students $11 for adults and $9 for seniors. Children 4 and under are free.

4-H club association to meet Sept. 23

Cass County 4-H Club Association will have its annual meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at the Cass County 4-H Community Center.

Residents have the opportunity to donate blood

Several sites in Logansport are planning blood drives, including:

• 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Logansport Memorial Hospital in Conference Room A-B, located at 1101 Michigan Ave., Logansport.

• 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at Revolution Community Church, located at 3324 E. Market St., Logansport. This blood drive is sponsored by United Way of Cass County.

• 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Columbia Elementary School in the gymnasium, located at 20 E. Columbia St., Logansport.

• Noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Ivy Tech Community College in the Cole Family Building, located at 1 Ivy Tech Way, Logansport.

Flu clinic for children Sept. 18

The Cass County Health Department will offer free seasonal flu vaccines to children 6 months to 18 years Wednesday, Sept. 18, by appointment only. This clinic is only for those who have Medicaid, no health insurance or have health insurance that does not cover flu vaccine.

Flu vaccine for adults 19 years and up will be offered at a later date at the health department for $15, cash or check. Clinic dates for adult influenza vaccine will be announced in the future.

Longcliff Museum plans open house

Longcliff Museum on grounds at the Logansport State Hospital is planning a community open house from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, to celebrate the hospital’s 125th anniversary. Admission will be free.
