Cass County crash claims life

57-year-old man pronounced dead at scene.

---- — A 57-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash Wednesday evening.

Cass County sheriff's deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash at U.S. 24 at 400 West at about 5:14 p.m. Wednesday. According to a press release from the sheriff's department, Randy O Painter's silver 2003 mo-ped ran off the roadway and collided with the guardrail.

Toxicology tests are pending, the release states.

The sheriff's department was assisted by the Cass County Fire District No. 1, Rural/Metro ambulance service, Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department and the Cass County coroner's office.
