PERU — Resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct charges were filed against a Kokomo man who held police at bay for nearly six hours last week at Grissom Aeroplex.
Court records from Miami Superior Court 2 show a warrant was issued Friday for George J. Doss, 47, on the misdemeanor charges.
The Miami County Sheriff Department deputies were called to the base about 8 p.m. Sept. 5 on a report of a suspicious man carrying a suitcase and kneeling in prayer in the middle of Hoosier Boulevard, which is located in the Aeroplex adjacent to the Grissom Air Reserve Base.
Miami County Sheriff Tim Miller reported Doss made rambling statements, including telling police they were in a “code red zone.”
After examination of the suitcase, no weapons or explosives were found inside.
On Friday morning, Doss was transported to Community Howard Regional Hospital for a court-ordered mental evaluation, where he remained this week.
Court records showed Kokomo attorney Randy Hainlen entered his appearance as Doss’ attorney and waived the initial hearing. Court dates will be set once the warrant is served.
