---- — Just after 10 a.m. this morning, a Marion woman was killed on U.S. 31 near 1500 North in Miami County.
According to Indiana State Police, Karen Cummings, 60, Marion, was driving a 2007 Jeep Liberty north on U.S. 31 when she rear-ended a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Gerald Harmon, 58, Roann. Police are reporting that Cummings was driving at a high rate of speed when the crash occurred.
The impact caused the Jeep to travel across the median and roll several times before coming to rest on its wheels in the southbound lanes of U.S. 31. The Pontiac was pushed into the median.
Cummings was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Miami County Coroner Ron Meyer. Harmon was not injured.
This crash is still under investigation, but at this time, neither the use of alcohol nor narcotics is suspected as having contributed to this crash.
