The declaration came after the area got deluged with snow throughout Sunday. Cass and several surrounding counties were issued a blizzard warning as of 7 p.m. Sunday, in effect through 7 a.m. Monday, according to a statement from the National Weather Service.
All counties surrounding Cass were under travel warnings as of shortly before 8:30 p.m. Sunday. At that time, Cass was under a travel watch, meaning only essential travel should be undertaken.
A wind chill warning remained in effect from Monday morning through Tuesday, the NWS stated.
