FLORA — Area residents will gather at Carroll High School on Sunday and Monday to remember a Carroll County native who was killed Saturday in the line of duty.
Tipton County Deputy Jacob Calvin, 31, Kempton, was killed Saturday night in a single-vehicle crash while responding to personal-injury accident.
Calvin, a 2001 graduate from Carroll, was driving a 2011 Chevy Impala police car north on Tipton County Road 300 West at a high rate of speed while on duty to reach the scene of a personal-injury accident on Ind. 28 near Tipton County Road 500 West.

Tipton County deputies and Indiana State Police officers arrived on scene at around 9:50 p.m. Calvin was taken by ambulance to Indiana University Tipton Hospital, where he later died from wounds sustained in the crash.
Deputies say the crash is still under investigation. Calvin had been a Tipton County deputy for two and a half years.
Visitation for Calvin will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School in Flora. His funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at the school.
