Snakes alive!

Walton library hosts 'Snakehead' Ed

by Sarah Einselen Pharos-Tribune

---- — Young Walton readers got a rare treat — or maybe the willies — Friday during a snake-filled library program. “Snakehead” Ed Ferrer, a retired middle school science teacher, brought snakes of all sizes — even a python more than twice as long as he is tall — and allowed the children in attendance to pet them.

“My snakes serve as goodwill ambassadors for all wildlife,” Ferrer says, “because unfortunately, today usually the wildest animal most students see is a dead raccoon or deer carcass on the road.”
