Restrooms to be shut down in city parks for winter

---- —

Starting this week, the Logansport Parks & Recreation Department will be shutting down water lines in parks that only have drinking fountains.

In the week of Oct. 21, the department will begin shutting down water lines at parks that also have restrooms, including Fairview, Dykeman and Spencer parks.

Following Boo Fest on Monday, Oct. 28, restroom facilities at Riverside and Huston parks will be shut down.

The process of clearing water lines for the winter is labor intensive and requires a two- to three-week window to take care of all the lines in the parks. This process prevents water lines from breaking due to water freezing inside the pipes.

Lights at all basketball courts and the Riverside ramp park will be shut down beginning Nov. 1. Reduced public play has made this step necessary, according to a parks department press release.
