Monticello woman arrested on charge of neglect

Davis arrested Wednesday in connection with son's near-drowning.

WHITE COUNTY — Krystal Davis, 23, Monticello, was arrested at 8 p.m. Wednesday on a White County warrant for a criminal offense of neglect of a dependent, a class C felony.

Davis was arrested by White County deputies in connection with an incident involving the near-drowning of her 5-year-old boy July 3.

On July 3, a 5-year-old boy was found lying face down, coughing up water as he was pulled from Big Monon Creek, White County Sheriff Pat Shafer said. Another child had been found standing naked on a boat dock.

That day, officers located the mother of the two boys, Shafer said. wThe woman had been asleep in her residence on the lake and was unaware the boys had left the residence, he said. The case has been investigated since that time.

Davis’ bond is set at $10,000 and as of Thursday afternoon she remains in jail.

The case had been forwarded over to White County Prosecutors office for review and after being reviewed, criminal charges were filed.

The children were removed from the home the day of the incident and placed with relatives, Shafer said.
