Sporting helmets and safety glasses, several Ivy Tech students, hospital personnel and members of the Logansport police and fire departments mounted tricycles Wednesday for a race to support United Way of Cass County. Braving squirting water and streaks of aerosol string, Logansport Police Department officers nabbed the title of “Ultimate Trike Riders” as they crossed the finish line.

“It was a huge success,” said Kevin Bostic, vice chancellor and campus dean for Ivy Tech-Logansport. “We really enjoyed ourselves.” The event also raised at least $950, he said, between registration for the trike ride and food sales from campus groups. “With their sales, we’ll probably go over $1,000.”

After the successful first year, Bostic said the campus plans to bring the trike race back next year.
