A Logansport man died after the moped he was driving collided with a parked car on the east side of town Monday evening.
Ernest Birnell, 59, Logansport, was pronounced dead at Logansport Memorial Hospital sometime around 7:30 p.m. Monday, according to Cass County Coroner Randy Rozzi.
Cass County Sheriff's Deputy Mike Shannon, who reconstructed the scene of the crash, said he was able to determine the moped veered right and struck the rear of a parked vehicle on the 1600 block of Erie Avenue in Logansport sometime after 6 p.m. Monday.
Logansport police initially responded to the crash. Police spokesmen did not immediately return messages left seeking clarification.
