Winter storm to hit Cass County

---- — Cass County is expected to receive 6 to 8 inches of snow from Saturday and Sunday, with heaviest snow fall on Sunday, said Katie Gross, a meteorologist from the National Weather Service in northern Indiana.

Temperatures will dip starting Monday when the high is expected to be negative 15 degrees with 40 below zero wind child and 25 mph wind gusts.

There will be a slight increase Tuesday, with a negative 4 degrees temperature and 20 mph wind.

Local law enforcement officers are urging families to take caution during the storm by traveling with a fully powered cell phone, a full tank of gas and extra clothes in vehicles.

Fire department officials are asking for those with space heaters to keep an eye on the equipment, and veterinarians are asking that pet owners take proper care of animals during the storm. There will be a full report in Sunday’s paper.
