Three Logansport residents found themselves in jail over the weekend on methamphetamine-related charges after a traffic stop.

Just after midnight on Saturday, Logansport police pulled over a vehicle because of a malfunctioning headlight. According to a police report, the officer noticed a chemical smell coming from the vehicle so called in a K-9 and the Cass County Drug Task Force.

Officer Travis Yike arrived with K-9 Hodo, who reportedly detected the odor of narcotics, which permitted police to search the vehicle.

Police reported finding a black trash bag containing what they believe to be remnants of a meth lab.

Driver of the vehicle, 36-year-old James Edward Long, was arrested on a charge of dealing in meth.

One of the passengers, 37-year-old Shane Leonard McLochlin, had the trash bag on the floorboard between his legs when police pulled them over. He was charged with manufacturing meth.

Summer Lynn Doran, 22, Logansport, was also charged with dealing in meth.

All three suspects were booked into the Cass County Jail with bond set at $5,000 cash/$25,000 surety.

Doran has since been released on bond. Long and McLochlin remain in jail.

The charges are class B felonies carrying a sentencing range of six to 20 years in the Indiana Department of Correction.
