Klinck earns state praise

Deputy mayor recognized for downtown revitalization efforts.

Deputy Mayor Linda Klinck has been recognized by the state for her efforts in revitalizing Logansport’s downtown.

Lt. Governor Becky Skillman acknowledged designees from the state’s Indiana Main Street program Friday at the statehouse.

Indiana Main Street is a program through the Office of Community and Rural Affairs that was established to provide economic revitalization and professional assistance to participating communities.

Logan’s Landing represents Logansport in the program, which uses a four-point approach that includes design, organization, promotion and economic restructuring of Hoosier downtowns.

Members of Logan’s Landing nominated Klinck for the outstanding board member award.

“We are delighted that Linda has been selected to receive this statewide recognition,” said Logan’s Landing executive director Becki Harris. “Logan’s Landing is very fortunate to have such a knowledgeable board member who is so dedicated to improving our downtown district.”

Her nomination explained her accomplishments while serving as the first executive director of the organization from 1999 until 2001.

“When she went to work for the state of Indiana in 2001, Linda remained heavily involved with Logan’s Landing,” the nomination read.

Klinck served on the economic restructuring committee and as an advisor to the board of directors. She was also the chairman of the first Celebrate Logansport event and was the first chairman of the Downtown Christmas Open House. The nomination stated that Klinck “has sat on virtually every standing committee of Logan’s Landing at some time.”

Fundraising was also listed as a strong point. Harris congratulated Klinck, who “diligently sought funding to complete our Fourth Street project, which has finally become a reality this year with an OCRA grant soon to be awarded in the amount of almost $500,000.

“Linda has been the one person consistent in the development of Logan’s Landing Main Street program, beginning with our original model block,” Harris wrote. “She has numerous achievements to justify her nomination. Linda Klinck is well deserving of this award.”

Klinck joins a group of six others who were recognized by the state as outstanding board members.
