Third burglary suspect arrested

Teen now facing up to 20 years in prison, if convicted.

The third suspect from a home burglary interrupted by police last week remains in jail after a judge determined law enforcement had enough evidence to formally charge him.

On Thursday, Cass Superior Court II Judge Rick Maughmer found probable cause for the arrest of 18-year-old Shelby Rowe of Logansport on a charge of class B felony burglary. He is believed to be the person who fled as police responded to a report of suspicious activity near a residence in the 1700 block of Spear Street.

Police served Rowe with an arrest warrant Wednesday, making his the third arrest in the Oct. 26 incident involving the home of a 62-year-old woman who recently paid one of the boys $10 to rake her leaves.

The other two suspects, 18-year-old Brandon Lee Doss and 18-year-old Michaell Scott Willis, were arrested at the scene.

According to a police report, Logansport officers detained Doss and Willis, both of Logansport, when Doss revealed that he, Willis and Rowe had been trying to force entry into the home to steal money the hired help noticed on the table days before.

At the back of the woman’s home, police reported finding the outside door removed from the hinges and tools lying on the ground. Doss told police they gave up when they discovered a deadbolt lock.

The resident, who was asleep inside at the time, said she had not heard the activity.

All three teenagers face class B felony charges of burglary. If convicted, punishment ranges from six to 20 years in the Indiana Department of Correction.
