Crash injures two people

Police say car seat likely saved child from more serious injury

by Kevin Lilly

A two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon left two people injured, one adult and a child.

Cass County deputies along with Walton Fire Department and Cass County EMS responded about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday to 600E and 300S for an accident involving a GMC Jimmy driven by 46-year-old Tammy Glassburn and a Chevy Silverado driven by 78-year-old John Williams.

According to deputies on the scene, Glassburn was southbound on 600E when the driver of the pickup truck pulled into his path. The Jimmy, which contained two adults and two children, rolled at least once as a result of the collision.

A child who had been buckled in a car seat was taken by ambulance to Logansport Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Detective Tom Heflin said the car seat likely saved the girl from more serious injury. An adult in the same vehicle also suffered minor injuries.

The wreck knocked down the street sign and a stop sign at the intersection.

The names of the injured passengers were not available this morning.
