Auxiliary girls host Saturday breakfast

The Junior Girls Unit for the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3790 has scheduled a breakfast.

The event is planned from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday. The junior girls unit will hold a meeting immediately after the breakfast.

Jaycees hosting candidate breakfast

The Logansport Jaycees will be hosting a meet the candidate pancake breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18 at the McHale Complex in Riverside Park.

Citizens can meet with state Senate candidates Randy Head and Linda Klinck, while having a hot breakfast of pancakes and sausage.

Cost is $5 for adults or $3 for children 12 and under.

Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance by calling (574) 727-2525.

Mobile cat clinic visiting Logansport

The Neuterscooter will be available on Monday at the Logansport Mall.

The Neuterscooter is a low-cost spay/neuter clinic for cats only. The cost is $40, which includes spay/neuter and vaccinations.

Flu shots available at health department

The Cass County Health Department will offer the influenza vaccine to adults on Friday by appointment only. This will be the final adult flu clinic held at the health department this season, and supplies are limited.

Flu shots are available for adults 19 years and older. Flu vaccine for this age group is $15. Payment may be made with cash or check only. The health department does not bill Medicare or insurance.

The health department is in Suite 230 at Logansport Memorial Hospital Medical Office Building West.

Area senior center plans town meeting

DELPHI — The Delphi Senior Center located in the Stone Barn, 700 N. Washington St., will be hosting a town hall meeting with Timothy Banter, candidate for state representative, District 24.

The event will begin at 1 p.m. Friday. The town hall meeting is open to the public, and those who attend will have an opportunity to ask questions.

Democrats plan dinner at golf club

The Cass County Democratic Central Committee invites everyone to join Congressman Joe Donnelly, Mayor Michael Fincher and state and local candidates for the Jefferson-Jackson dinner.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Logansport Golf Club. Cocktails will be offered at 6:30 p.m.

The cost is $230 for a table of eight, $55 a couple or $30 for a single.

Those planning to attend need to indicate choice of steak or chicken.

Commissioners approve stop signs

The Cass County commissioners approved requests by the highway superintendent to install stops signs at two intersections east of Logansport.

The stop signs will be placed on Timber Lane and Hickory Lane at Grandview Drive. Southbound traffic on Timber Lane and Hickory Lane would have to stop for cross traffic on Grandview Drive, which is a connector for Logansport and Pottawatomie roads.

Both ordinances were brought forth by Highway Superintendent Steve Easley at Monday’s meeting and passed without opposition. After the meeting, Easley said his goal was to improve safety at the intersections, which currently have no signs.

American Legion plans chili supper

GALVESTON — The Galveston American Legion is hosting a chili and dessert supper from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Galveston Community Center.

The menu includes all-you-can-eat chili and dessert. Donations will be accepted. Proceeds will go toward the American Legion community programs.

The event is sponsored by the American Legion Post 415.

Foundation plans putt-putt event

The Guardian Angel Foundation presents Hospice Harvest Putt Putt from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Logan’s Run Family Golf Center, 14 Golfview Drive in Logansport.

The first putt is at 1:30 p.m.

The event is for all ages. The cost is $5 a person or $20 for a four-person team. Space is limited to the first 108 golfers who sign up.
