Cub Scout pack seeks members
Cub Scout Pack 3215 will have its annual Cub Scout Roundup at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Caston Elementary School. All boys in first through fifth grades are encouraged to join.
Pack 3215 is chartered by the Grass Creek Lions Club and typically meets at Caston elementary. Plans have been made for several campouts, fishing, hiking, camp fires, roller skating, bowling, racing, sledding and many other activities.

Lions taking orders for pies, noodles
ROYAL CENTER — The Royal Center Lions are taking orders for Amish pies and noodles until Sept. 16. These pies and noodles are made by the Amish ladies in Etna Green.
The cost is $7.50 for apple, Dutch apple, blueberry, cherry, strawberry rhubarb, pumpkin custard, Dutch cherry, Old Fashion cream, peach, and Bob Andy (custard spice).
The cost is $8.50 for black raspberry and pecan.
Noodles are $3 for a one-pound bag.
Pies and noodles need to be picked up on Oct. 4 at the Royal Center Fire Station from 9 to 11 a.m.

Annual fish fry set in Monticello
MONTICELLO — The ninth annual Dan’s Fish and Tenderloin Fry is planned from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 29 at CDC in Monticello.
Pre-sale tickets are available at both CDC Centers, 5063 Norway Road in Monticello, or 1320 E. Angelica St. in Rensselaer, and also at the CDC Thrift Shop in Monticello and Jasper Junction in Rensselaer.
The cost of tickets are $8 in advance or $8.50 at the door for adults, and tickets for children ages 4-12 are $5 and under age 3 are free.
Champion dog trainer Bill Marion will be having a show every half hour for entertainment. A raffle of prizes donated by the local communities will also be conducted. All proceeds from the fish fry go to CDC Resources to offset the rising costs of providing needed services for people with disabilities.

Children’s choir sets call-outs
The Logansport Children’s Choir will hold its annual call-out night for parents of prospective new members from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 25 in the Logansport High School Choir Room.
The purpose is to provide information about the group to parents and to give them the opportunity to schedule their child for an audition. Parents may come any time within the 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. time frame.
The 10-minute tryouts, which are open to all third, fourth and fifth grade students in Cass and surrounding counties, will be scheduled from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 26 through 29 in the choir room.
The choir is made up of boys in grades three through eight and girls in grades three through 12. Parents of students older than fifth grade who wish to try out should call the choir director at the number below and special arrangements can be made.

Potawatomi history program at museum
ROCHESTER — Tom Hamilton, citizen Potawatomi nation member, and Shirley Willard, Fulton County historian, will give a program on Potawatomi history and the Trail of Death at the Fulton County Museum on Sunday Aug. 24 at 2 p.m. The public is invited. Free refreshments will be served.
Hamilton is a descendant of Abram Burnett, who was on the Trail of Death. He will tell how he found the place where Burnett was born in 1812 in a “rocky place” in Fulton County.
Willard is helping to organize the Trail of Death commemorative caravan which will travel the original 1838 route from Indiana to Kansas Sept. 22-28. She will show pictures of the Trail of Death historical markers and historic highway signs across Indiana.
The Fulton County Museum is four miles north of Rochester on U.S. 31.
