BabyFest comes to Kokomo Saturday
KOKOMO — The Family Service Association will host BabyFest on Saturday at the Kokomo Event Center, formerly known as the Johanning Civic Center, 1500 N. Reed Road (U.S. 31) in Kokomo. Doors open at 10 a.m., and the event runs until 5 p.m. Admission is $3 for adults older than 18.
The event is a fundraiser for FSA to fund its programs, which include a domestic violence shelter, Prevent Child Abuse, Healthy Families and Credit Counseling Services.
The event will include classes, contests, giveaways, vendor booths with baby, toddler and maternity products, pre-natal and breastfeeding classes, photographers and children’s clothing.
Hourly events include diaper derbies, breastfeeding seminars and style shows featuring maternity and children’s clothing.
Two nurseries will be displayed, and those attending may vote for their favorite, at $1 per vote. One winning vote ticket will be drawn at the end of the day to award a free nursery.
There will also be activities for young children, including a Discovery Toys play area and toddler karaoke, where children can earn prizes by singing.
Memory Walk set next month
KOKOMO — The Alzheimer’s Association’s annual Memory Walk will take place on Sept. 20 at Jackson Morrow Park in Kokomo. Hundreds of people are expected to participate in this year’s event to raise awareness and funds to fight the disease.
The Alzheimer’s Association’s Memory Walk is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research programs. Americans who have participated in these walks have raised more than $265 million.
Registration is at 9 a.m. and participants can choose to walk a 1- or 3-mile route. To start a team or make a donation, contact the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org/indiana or call (800) 272-3900.
Church schedules four-day revival
GILEAD — A tent revival is planned Thursday through Sunday at Old Cross Road Baptist Church.
The revival will begin at 6 p.m. each day near the church on Ind. 19. There will be live gospel music each evening. No offering plate will be passed at this event.
On Sunday, the event will kick off with a carry-in at 4 p.m., followed by the revival at 6 p.m.
