Bookstore planning midnight session

A Night with a Bite is planned from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday at Waldenbooks in the Logansport Mall.

Get the newest Twilight Series book “Breaking Dawn,” by Stephanie Meyer. The book will be available at midnight.

There will be a giveaway, prizes, games and a costume contest.

Old medications to be collected

The R-Day scheduled on Saturday at Riverside Park in Logansport will include the collection of old or expired medications. This is the only item that will be taken over and above the usual recyclables that are taken during R-Day. The collection will no accept any type of sharps, and individuals might want to peel the labels off containers to protect privacy. Check medicine cabinets for any old or expired medications.

A police officer is provided for this event through a grant from Partners for a Drug Free Cass County. This year, the grant will allow medication collection at least three times. The Indiana Department of Environmental Management is putting added emphasis on getting these items out of the waste stream properly.

Festival at area park includes parade

FULTON — Fulton Fun Days Festival is planned for Aug. 1-3 with the theme “My Country: Love It — Lead It.”

Events begin Friday, Aug. 1 at the park starting at 6 p.m. with 3 on 3 youth basketball. Adult mushball and a euchre tournament will be at 6:30 p.m. and karaoke will be at 7 p.m. There will be food vendors all evening.

Saturdays events are mostly at the park and will begin at 6:30 a.m. with a Masonic breakfast. At 8 a.m., mushball continues as well as a 3 on 3 soccer event and a quilt display. The 5K race and puppy trot walk is at 8:30 a.m.; high school open 3 on 3 basketball and sand volleyball at 9 a.m.; parade downtown at 11 a.m.; high school 3 on 3 soccer and free kid’s games at the park, coed wiffleball tournament and Texas Hold ‘Em tournament at noon; bingo and a pedal tractor pull is at 1 p.m.; free pony and pony cart rides are at 2 p.m.; open class 3 on 3 soccer is at 4 p.m.; an Ernie Hiatt fish and chicken fry is from 4:30 to 7 p.m.; an extrication maneuver is planned at 5:30 p.m.; Cow Patty Bingo is at 6 p.m.; and a Time Travelers Concert is at 6:30 p.m.

Sunday’s events will be at the park with Gospel Singspiration hosted by Metea Baptist Church. A free picnic supper begins at 5 p.m. Bring seating.

Ice cream social being held at Lions

WALTON — The Cass County Democrat Party will host an ice cream social at noon Aug. 24 at the Lions Den in Walton. 

Most federal, state and local candidates are expected to be present to serve ice cream free to the public. 

Some candidates expected to be in attendance are Linda Klinck, Tim Banter, Jr., Marvin Grist, Julian Pugh and Gordon Southern.

Broadway project topic of meeting

Bonar Group and Deichman Excavating will hold an informational meeting for all business owners on the north side of Broadway at 10 a.m. July 30 in the Logansport Municipal Utilities boardroom on the third floor of the City Building.

The purpose of the meeting is to inform business owners of the construction schedule from Sixth Street to 15th Street. Representatives from LMU and the mayor’s office will be in attendance, and business owners will have an opportunity to ask specific questions after the meeting.

Cass Co. Y offers preschool classes

The Cass County Family YMCA is again offering its Kinderkamp Preschool. The class fees are $55 per month for Y members and $80 per month for non-members. There is also a $30 supply fee.

Staci Love will be the instructor for KinderKamp. Age and ability appropriate activities are a part of every class. Low teacher/student ratios insure that each child gets attention that he or she needs.
