State police issued 2,104 citations to drivers in June

PERU — Indiana State Police at the Peru Post recently released statistics for the month of June.

Troopers issued 2,104 traffic citations and wrote 1,849 traffic warnings. Troopers also arrested 25 allegedly impaired drivers and made 72 criminal arrests, 20 of which were felonies.

Lt. Matt Bilkey, Peru Post district commander, would like to remind Hoosiers that outdoor marijuana eradication efforts by the state police are currently underway throughout Indiana and will continue until late fall.

Area residents are encouraged to report suspected illegal drug activity by calling the Indiana State Police Marijuana Tip Line at (888) 873-1694.
