Storybook Festival set for this weekend

From Staff Reports

Reading Railroad will stage a Storybook Festival on Sunday at Spencer Park in Logansport.

The Story House Depot will be the setting for children to receive a free book during the festival from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Reading Railroad, with the help of many Logansport teachers, has plenty of activities planned for the event. There will be free popcorn donated by the Walton Public Library.

Logansport Art Association will be on hand to lead children through a craft project. Children will have a chance to design their own chalk drawing on the sidewalk.

The Berryettes will be on hand for face painting, and kids will have a chance to choose their own design.

Parents are invited to take a camera to get pictures with Clifford or some of his storybook friends. Logansport library representatives will be on hand to introduce Tumble Girl and offer information about this new computer link through their Web site.

Families can sit on a bench and listen to Mike Stow tell stories throughout the afternoon.

The Sycamore Drive-in will be donating 100 cups of ice cream. Starbucks from Martin’s Supermarket will have some cookies to share.

The highlight of the day will be award-winning children’s artist James Coffey, who will be playing his guitar and performing songs designed to entertain audiences of all ages.

A large crowd is expected so park at the New Life Alliance Church, 3529 High St., and take the shuttle provided by Cass County Transit. Parking at Spencer will be limited to the Storybook crew.
