Work day planned at Canal Park sites

DELPHI — Friends of the Wabash and Erie Canal have scheduled a work day at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Two crews are needed to plant flowers at Canal Park, 1030 N. Washington St. in Delphi, and also to clear brush at the north side of the Carrollton Bridge, five miles north of Delphi.

Yard items free for Pulaski flood victims

WINAMAC — Pulaski County flood victims will soon be able to get free assistance for improving their yards.

Project T.I.P.Y., “Together Improving People’s Yards,” is an all-volunteer, one-day event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Winamac Town Park. The purpose of the event is to distribute flowers, starter trees, mulch and other yard items to households in Pulaski County that experienced damage as a result of the flooding. Distribution is first-come, first-served as supplies are limited.

People will be asked to provide documentation to verify eligibility. Proof of a Pulaski County address such as a utility bill, bank statement, copy of property taxes or insurance statement will work, along with proof of flooding, such as a FEMA letter of registration, a picture of damage and/or an insurance loss letter or other insurance form.

Tax-deductible donations may be sent to Project T.I.P.Y., c/o PCHS Inc., P.O. Box 1023, Winamac IN 46996.

Memorial Day parade planned

The annual Memorial Day Parade will begin at 9:45 a.m. Monday, May 26.

The parade will start on Fourth Street in front of the County Building.

Any units interested in participating may call (765) 210-1071. All veterans are encouraged to join in the march.

Columbia choir performs today

MayFest is planned at 7:30 p.m. today at Columbia Elementary.

This is a concert of all elementary fourth- and fifth-grade choir members. The concert is free and open to the public.

Some of the featured selections include “The Hukilauâ” (a Hawaiian song about fishing) and dancers, “Mister Musicâ” featuring Orff instruments, a number featuring “Circle the State” singers and “Listen to the Rain,” which includes audience participation.

Local church plans spring ham loaf sale

The women of Trinity Episcopal Church remind everyone who ordered ham loaves that the pick up day is from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church.
