Lauck finalist for Michigan job

Logansport superintendent set for Monday interview

The Pharos-Tribune learned Thursday that Logansport Schools Superintendent Julie Lauck is a finalist for the superintendent’s position at a Grand Rapids, Mich., area school corporation.

According to a report from The Grand Rapids Press, Lauck is one of four finalists for the Hudsonville School Corp. job.

The paper said Lauck will participate in a public interview Monday night for the position held by Roxanne DeWeerd. The 2008 Michigan Association of School Administrators Superintendent of the Year is retiring in June.

If successful in the first round of interviews, Lauck will proceed to a second round. A decision on the position is expected in June.

Lauck is the only out-of-state superintendent among the finalists who were chosen from a field of 19 applicants.

Hudsonville is 15 miles west of Grand Rapids. The town’s 5,600-student school district has a $48.7 million annual budget.

Lauck, who was appointed LCSC superintendent in October 2006, said she was encouraged to apply for the position by family members who live in the area.

School board president Lynne Ness refused to comment on the report.
