Police arrest ex-husband in attack

A Rochester man went to jail Sunday on charges that he choked his ex-wife.

At 4:33 p.m., Jennifer Beane, 33, Logansport, drove to the Logansport police station to report that she had been attacked by her ex-husband, 33-year-old Chad Barstone Rentschler of Rochester.

She said the attack occurred at a friend’s house in the 600 block of Cliff Drive. She said Rentschler pushed her off the porch and then grabbed her around the neck with his hand.

Rentschler, who reportedly admitted to pushing Beane but not to choking her, was taken to the Cass County Jail and booked in on charges of strangulation, battery and possession of marijuana.

As of this morning, Rentschler remained in jail on a bond of $1,000 surety.
