Boosters serving chicken and noodles

NYONA LAKE — They Nyona South Mud Lake Boosters are having a chicken and noodle dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Club House, 2999 N. Knoll Drive.

Proceeds will go to help pay for street lights.

Deadline nears for tax forms

The Cass County Board of Review is in session for the year.

The deadline for filing personal property tax forms with the township trustee or county assessor is May 15.

May 15 is also the deadline for filing the application for property tax exemptions regarding not-for-profit organizations.

Local church plans spring ham loaf sale

The women of Trinity Episcopal Church are taking orders for their annual spring ham loaf sale.

The ham loaves are fresh and may be prepared when picked up or frozen to serve at a later date. The price is $7 a box with six individual loaves with sauce in each box.

Orders may be placed now through Monday. The loaves can be picked up from 9 a.m. to noon May 17 at the church.

Society holds fish, chicken fry

FULTON — The Fulton County Historical Society will hold an all-you-can-eat fish and chicken fry from 4 to 7:30 p.m. May 17.

Advanced tickets are available at the museum. The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children ages 6-11. Tickets will also be available at the door for $7.50 for adults and $4 for children. For more information, call (574) 223-4436.

Ernie Hiatt will prepare the fish and chicken Jonah-style in cholesterol-free oil.

Carry-outs will include meat only; dine-in meals will include meat, baked beans, applesauce, cole slaw and drink. Bake sale items will also be available.

Proceeds will be used for updating the smoke detectors in the museum and adding the security alarm system to the Richland Center Memorial Hall. This project will cost $4,598.13 to complete. Work will start on this in the next week and donations are being sought to help cover the cost of this very needed system.

Those who cannot attend the fish and chicken fry and would like to send a donation can send it to FCHS, 37E 375N, Rochester IN 46975.

Cheerleaders selling mulch

FULTON — The Caston cheerleaders are selling bulk landscape mulch.  

The price is $27 a yard.  

Pickups can be loaded evenings or weekends at the first house south of the Caston School on Ind. 25.

Applications due Friday for pageant

Applications for Miss Cass County need to be turned in by Friday. They can be dropped off at the Cass County Extension Office.

Road restrictions begin in the area

LaPorte — Several area highways are set for construction that will create travel restrictions.

In Fulton County, Ind. 14 is being resurfaced from U.S. 31 to the west junction of Ind. 25. Traffic is restricted to one lane in each direction during daytime working hours. The project is expected to be finished by May 23.

Ind. 110 east of Ind. 17 In Fulton County is closed while workers replace a bridge over Eddy Creek. Completion of the project about 2 1/2 miles east of Ind. 17 is scheduled for August.

Pulaski County is also getting a bridge replacement that closes the road to all traffic. The work is on Ind. 119 over Mud Creek, 6.44 miles south of U.S. 35. The project is scheduled for completion in August.

U.S. 35 in Pulaski County will be resurfaced from 550S to Ind. 14. Travel is restricted to one 10-foot lane in each direction. Work is set to completed by Aug. 1.

Crews are set to begin work today to resurface U.S. 421 from Ind. 16 to Ind. 114 in White County. The highway will be restricted to one lane of traffic during construction. The project should be wrapped up by Aug. 15.

INDOT mowing to begin soon

LAPORTE — The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced that mowing will soon begin along state rights of way.

Mowing is designed to minimize costs and risk to highway workers while maintaining the vegetation on roadways at a safe height for motorist visibility. INDOT predominantly uses a three-cycle process, meaning each highway right-of-way will be mowed three times a year.

Most of the first cycles in the LaPorte District will be completed by Memorial Day.
