3-year-old Flora boy run over by lawn mower

— FLORA — A 3-year-old child remains hospitalized after his mother accidentally ran over him with a riding lawn mower.
The young boy, Shelbee Wolf, of rural Flora, was flown by PHI Air Medical to Riley Hospital in Indianapolis after suffering severe leg and foot injuries Wednesday afternoon in his front yard.
At 4:19 p.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to 2064N 175W after receiving a report that the child had been struck and run over by a riding lawn mower. Upon arrival, police and EMS began giving medical attention to Wolf. Preliminary assessment by medics indicated that the boy had suffered severe lacerations, fractures, partial amputation and loss of blood from his right leg. The child was conscious and alert upon arrival of emergency personnel.
Wolf was admitted to Riley Hospital late Wednesday evening and was taken to surgery. As of this morning, an update on his condition was not available.
Officers from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office learned that Wolf was walking behind the riding lawn mower being operated by his mother. She backed up, not knowing the boy was behind her. The mother’s name was not available.
Carroll County EMS and Jackson Township Volunteer Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
