Panhandle event set for today

WINAMAC — For Earth Day, Friends of the Panhandle Pathway are gathering today to clean the trail that will eventually connect Winamac to Kenneth.

Volunteers are asked to bring a rake, gloves or just yourself and some friends and family to the meeting place at the south end of the Tippecanoe River bridge at 250S, across from the John Deere dealer.

The cleaning session for a quarter-mile of the trail will last from 5 to 7 p.m.

Pioneer hosts carnival, dinner

ROYAL CENTER — Pioneer Elementary is hosting its annual carnival and dinner on Friday.

The carnival is 5 to 8 p.m. and five pre-carnival tickets are available for $1 at the school. Tickets at the carnival will be sold at four for $1. Most games will take two to three tickets.

From 4:30 to 7:30, the dinner will be provided by Dan’s Fish and Chicken. The meal includes fish or chicken, cole slaw, potato chips, dessert and drink of tea, lemonade or water.

Tickets are $7.50 for adults and $4.50 for children ages 5 to 12. Tickets may be purchased at the elementary or at the door. Carry-out will be available.

Benefit run, walk will be Saturday

“Oh Baby Run” 5K Run and Fun Walk is planned Saturday at Riverside Park.

The events begin at 8:30 a.m. with registration. The 5K run-walk begins at 10 o’clock; award ceremony is at 11; lunch, which costs $2 per person, is 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A Kiddie Fun Run, with ribbons for all participants, starts at noon with free carousel rides available from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Proceeds from this event will support the “Respond in a Heartbeat” campaign to benefit the Family Birth Center.

Registration includes a long-sleeved T-shirt, free lunch and race day snacks. The first 150 prepaid participants (or race day while they last) will be given a free T-shirt on race day. Registration forms are available at the hospital or online at www.logansportmemorial.org. Fees are $20 for an individual pre-registration and $25 for race day registration. Those 12 years and under are free.

Caston cheerleaders selling mulch

FULTON — The Caston cheerleaders are selling bulk landscaping mulch.

The price is $29 a yard. Pickups can be loaded evenings or weekends at the first house south of Caston School on Ind. 25.
