Tire Amnesty Day slated this month
Tire Amnesty Day will be held from 9 a.m. to noon April 18 at the Cass County 4-H Fairgrounds. Donations will be taken to offset the cost.
This event is sponsored by the Cass County Solid Waste District and is for Cass County residents only, not for business, industry or junk dealers.
Those going to the fairgrounds should enter only at Gate A and drive around to the staging area. Those who have more than 10 tires are asked to call the solid waste district office at (574) 732-9253.
All sizes of tires will be accepted, but they must be off the rims. For the convenience of Logansport residents, the Logansport Street Department will pick up rimless tires in the city the week of April 13-17. The tires must be placed where normal trash pickup occurs on Monday, though pick up might be any day that week.
Galveston residents may drop off their tires at the Galveston wastewater plant during regular office hours the week of April 13.

LPD sets meeting on grant application
The Logansport Police Department will hold a public meeting immediately after Wednesday’s Board of Public Works and Safety meeting on a prospective application for a $14,000 Edward Byrne Memorial Grant.
Chief A.J. Rozzi said the meeting was a requirement of the grant application process, and he said he hoped the public might have some ideas on where the money should be spent.
“We would probably use it for purchasing another police squad car, or video equipment for the interview room,” Rozzi said. “But if the public has a better idea of how we should spend it, we would be more than happy to listen.”
The board of works meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. in the city council chambers on the third floor of the City Building.
