PUBLIC FORUM: What does God say about homosexuality?

What does God sayabout homosexuality?

Tell people what “God says” — not what “you think.” The Bible is God’s word. II Timothy 3:16-17, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

What does God say about “homosexuality”? Genesis 13 is the account of Abram and Lot deciding to go separate ways. Lot chooses Sodom. Chapter 13:13, “Now the men of Sodom were wicked and sinning greatly against the Lord.” Genesis 18:20-21, God comes down to check out Sodom and Gomorrah to see how “grievous” their sins are. Chapter 19: Two angels come to Sodom to rescue Lot and his family because God plans to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah for their wickedness. Verses 4-5, “Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom — both young and old — surrounded the house. They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.” Lot offers his two virgin daughters, but they refuse them. Verses 24-25, God destroys Sodom and Gomorrah because of their sin.

Leviticus 18:22, “Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable. Leviticus 20:13, “If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable” — Deuteronomy 22:5, “A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the Lord your God detests anyone who does this.” Judges 19:22-23, homosexuals again ask for men to be sent out to them so they can have sex with them. They refuse the man’s virgin daughter.

Read Luke 17:20-37, Romans 1:18-32 noting verses 26-27, “Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.” Read I Corinthians 6:9-10. Read II Peter 2:1-10 A. II Timothy, 4:3-4, “For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.” Jude 1:7, “In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.” Revelation 21:8, “But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars — their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
