Some people think they’re above the law
I will answer the question “Who is to blame for the federal governmental shutdown” by asking a couple questions myself. If Obamacare was so straightforward when it was passed, why did Nancy Pelosi state, “We have to pass the bill to see what is in it?”
If it was designed to make it easier for more people (mostly the middle and lower classes) to get insurance, why was it more than 2,700 pages before many amendments were added to it? Why was this bill signed by President Obama in March 2010 and over 3.5 years later there are so many glitches in the software that the signup site was shut down over the weekend for repairs (not yet corrected)?
The Constitution was written to apply to all citizens, yet certain groups think they are above the law and separate themselves from that law. Why? Harry Reid stated in the last couple days, “The Affordable Care Act is the law and parts of Congress [Republicans] can’t just determine that just because they don’t like it, they can ignore it.”
Does that apply to the president when it comes to immigration laws, or since he doesn’t like the law, is he allowed to tell homeland security and immigration to stop arresting illegal immigrants and turn those in jail loose instead of deporting them as the law specifies? If Obamacare is oh so great, why hasn’t the president signed up yet and gave waivers to parts of Congress and his big-time union supporters? And finally, if the Republicans are the obstructionists, why has the House passed bills to fund most of those furloughed government employees, the Senate and Obama responded with “Unless it is a completely clean proposition, he will not even talk about it or offer to negotiate”” It sounds to me like Obama and Reid are the ones being unreasonable. They even closed down the ocean.
