PUBLIC FORUM: Thanks for support

10 miles makes30 cents’ difference

Everyone needs to jump in their cars, vans, trucks, etc. and make the 10-mile trip to Walton and fill up.

As of Saturday, June 22, 8:30 p.m., gas in Walton is $3.49. That was 30 cents cheaper than Logan’s cheapest which was $3.79. Kokomo cheapest was $3.45 which was 34 cents less than Logansport. Galveston was also cheaper at $3.49.

Indiana’s statewide lowest prices posted at http://www.indianagasprices.com/ was $3.34 in Indy at Falcon Fuel and $3.36 at Speed Mart in Valparaiso.

As in the past, when prices fall our “gas gouging” stations lag way behind neighboring towns when it comes to lowering their prices. If you ask them why, they will tell you they have to empty their tanks of the high-priced gas and refill with less expensive gas before they lower their prices. We all know that’s BS. Why? Because when oil prices raise our Logansport stations are first in line to raise prices, even though the gas that’s in their tanks is cheaper fuel.

I ask why they don’t wait to empty their tanks and refill with higher-priced gas before they raise prices. I can only come up with one answer — greed and to stick it to our community. Well they don’t get me. Walton is only a 19-mile round trip for me, takes a little less than one gallon to get there. I would rather drive there than get gas in Logan. If more people did that, prices might drop here in Logan.

I was hoping the new gas station in town located on the east end would help drive prices down to equal neighboring towns. But looks like that’s not going to happen. I had heard the owner owned several stations in Kokomo and would run its prices closer to Kokomo’s prices. Guess I got some wrong information cause it looks like they have joined Logan’s “gas gouging group.” Wonder who the leader of that group is and if they have a hard time sleeping at night.
